Artistic Medals
The collection is comprised of artistic medals and other small relief sculptures that were collected within the Rinehart School of Sculpture. Many of the medals were created by artists through the auspices of the Society of Medallists, sometimes for the Society's annual edition.
The collection also includes pieces made by people affiliated with the Maryland Institute as alumni or faculty.
Baltimore Music and Performance Collection
The Baltimore Music and Performance Collection features posters, fliers, graphic material, local and national publications, and other material relating to the underground music and performance scene in Baltimore in the mid-1990s until 2019. The collection also includes ephemera from donor Tim Kabara’s activities in the music scene, such as ticket stubs and calendars.
Buildings
Records pertaining to buildings, including the Market Place building (ca. 1851-1904), the Main Building on Mount Royal Avenue, and the Mount Royal Station Building. Includes specifications, correspondence and blueprints.
Sophia L. Crownfield Textile Design Collection
Drawings of floral subjects in various media, including pencil, ink, watercolor, created by Sophia L. Crownfield. Some paintings in oil are included. The drawings were studies in different stages of development toward designs for textile patterns, to be produced in silk for the woman’s dress-silk trade. Some examples of silk textiles that were the result of the drawings are included.
Early Publications
The series consists of publications from the years of MICA's founding in 1826 through 1907. They are a combination of original documents and print-outs from PDF files made from documents owned by the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, MD. Most of these documents were digitized to PDF files during research for MICA: Making History/Making Art.
IS Project Type Specimen Posters
9 Letterpress posters, each consisting of a pangram -- a sentence that contains all the letters in the alphabet -- showcasing a different typeface from the Jon Selikoff Collection at IS Projects, a public-access printmaking and book arts studio founded by Ingrid Schindall in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The posters are part of an ongoing series.
William Henry Jackson Photochrom Collection
The collection consists of 187 photo-reproduction prints (most in color) made by the William Henry Jackson and the Detroit Photographic Company.
