Arrangement
Sorted by decade, then sorted into subject classifications.
Scheme for classifying photographs:
Each item will have a number to facilitate: retrieval of items found by searching database refiling matching up of digital images (if created) to physical items.
Item numbers will be assigned by time period, which is usually a decade (exact date, if known, will be recorded in database). The following categories will be used:
Pre-1904 (for any images dealing with Market Place building or classes/activities predating the 1904 fire)
1904-1919 (pre-1920)
1920s
1930s
1940s
etc.
February 1904 is used as a dividing date due to the Baltimore Fire that destroyed the Market Place building at that time.
Within each decade, images will be sorted into topical categories:
01 Classroom/Instruction – students, faculty, seminars, critiques, lectures, demonstrations.
02 Artwork – reproductions of work by students or faculty.
03 Special events – parties, fashion shows, open houses, commencements, plays, portfolio days, registration, student orientations, public/community events.
